Pay for a trip

Runway saves the trip request first. Payment becomes available after any required approval and once a final price is known.

Where payment happens

When the payment button appears

Open a saved trip. Pay now appears when:

  • The request is not cancelled
  • Approval is complete or was not required
  • Payment has not already been recorded
  • A final price is available
  • You are the booker, the traveler, or an authorised admin

A rate-on-request stay cannot be paid until its rate is confirmed.

Payment methods

The payment screen offers:

  • Company card: the current preview may show a clearly labelled sandbox card. No real money moves in sandbox mode.
  • Runway Balance: uses available balance and records the amount for invoice settlement.

If Stripe is configured in a later environment, the card section uses the secure Stripe payment form instead of the sandbox form.

After you pay

After payment, the trip shows Paid or On Runway Balance and remains queued for ticketing or reservation. The spend also appears in Expenses.

Current preview

Recording payment does not issue an airline ticket or hotel reservation because supplier order APIs are not connected.
